Biografia

Piers Anthony nasceu em Oxford, Inglaterra, em Agosto de 1934. Os seus pais ambos se licenciaram em Oxford, tendo ido para Espanha durante a guerra civil. O pai de Piers foi mandado prender por Franco, mas acabou por ser libertado com a condição de nunca mais voltar áquele país. Por essa altura tinha rebentado a 2ª Guerra Mundial, e a família de Piers em vez de voltar para a Inglaterra, assolada pela guerra, fugiu para os E.U.A., terra natal de seu pai. Assim Piers deixou o seu país para nunca mais voltar. Graduou-se em escrita pela universidade de Goddard, Vermont em 1956. Casou-se com uma colega de faculdade. Teve a variadíssima gama de empregos típicos de escritores em início de carreira. Tentou cerca de 15 trabalhos diferentes, mas apenas um lhe interessava: o com menos sucesso. Em 1962 a sua mulher foi trabalhar durante um ano, para que ele pudesse escrever a tempo inteiro. O resultado foi não conseguir vender nada e tornar-se professor de inglês; o que também não gostava.
