Self
portrait on
the way up to the 2351 meters of Pico Mountain's top, Azores, Portugal,
Aug-2002.
Ricardo Guerreiro was born in 1977 in Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal.
His parents were originally from the portuguese mainland and returned
home after only two years of his birth. Since then he has lived in Almada
for most of the year, a small city just across the Tagus river from
the capital, Lisbon. He has shown interest in issues related to the
natural world, specially astronomy and wildlife, since an early age.
Presently he is a student of Physics at the Faculty of Sciences, University
of Lisbon and works as a Second Skipper at Espaço Talassa, a
whale whatching base in the Azores. He has always admired photography
and was involved in astro-photography in slide film and bird photography
in negative film for a while. Nevertheless, it's only in the beginning
of 2002 with the adoption of the DigiScoping method that photography
became a regular hobby.
