CLINICAL CASE PRESENTATION
Simultaneous correction of leg
shortening, calf atrophy and cavus foot with Ilizarov for polio sequel (1999)
| 34 yo male with right leg polio sequel, presenting
marked calf atrophy, 4,5 cm shortening and a cavus foot. |
| An Ilizarov frame
was applied to correct the deformities at four levels: proximal tibial lengthening, aesthetic widening of the leg
with a medial longitudinal corticotomy of the tibia and medial transport
of 2cm, correction of the rear-foot deformity with a os calcis corticotomy
and correction of fore-foot deformity with a mid-tarsal corticotomy and
gradual correction. |
| The treatment
lasted for 5 months and we got correction of the deformities and aesthetic
improvement of the member. |
